Shaping Norfolk’s Recycling Centres: Customer satisfaction survey 2025

Norfolk County Council’s annual recycling centre survey is an opportunity for householders to provide feedback on Norfolk Recycling Centres. It gives an ongoing picture of what’s working well, what could be improved and how residents are using the household waste recycling centres.

To help the centres continue providing an efficient and value-for-money service in the coming years, they want to find out your views about the recycling centres you use. Even if you don’t use them, they want to hear from you so that they can understand why.

It takes just five minutes to complete the survey.  The survey runs from 20 August to 17 September. If you can, please share it with friends and family too.

Traffic Issues in Barnham Broom

The Parish Council is aware that the issue of speeding and volume of traffic is causing concern to a number of our residents, especially those living on Honingham, Bell, Wymondham Roads and Mount Pleasant. We want to keep you up to date with what is happening and how we are attempting to achieve those outcomes.

Firstly, the Parish Council fully supports the principal of reduced and enforced speed limits along the roads mentioned, all of which comes at a significant financial cost (estimated £100,000).

Secondly, we have the support of Richard Elliot, District Councillor, and Margaret Dewsbury, County Councillor, in our proposals, which is a requirement to progress any action. Norfolk County Council is the only authority able to change speed limits throughout the county. The Parish Council formally requested a review of the speed limits in March 2022 – a decision is due in the New Year. (The County Council has made it clear that its decision will relate to the 2023-24 financial year.)

As you will hopefully be aware, Highways England have been authorised to carry out significant road works between 2022 and 2025, which we believe will have an impact upon on our village. Those roadworks are the current A11 Wymondham improvements, which are scheduled until May 2023, the dual-carriaging of the A47 Hockering to Easton, with the building of a major interchange at Honingham, and the A11 Thickthorn Roundabout improvements. The Parish Council is a member of a multi-agency working party and, having raised its concerns, is seeking support from Highways England. We have already succeeded in ensuring that Berry’s Lane, Honingham will be closed.

In addition, Norfolk County Council has recently completed its public consultation on completion of the Norwich Western Link, which will join the A47 at the new Honingham Interchange. The Parish Council is a member of a working group including Norfolk County Council Highways, District and County Councillors together with Wymondham Town and Carleton Forehoe and Kimberley Parish Councils. We fully support the mitigation proposed, which includes:

  • HGV Restriction through the village;

  • Speed reduction and extension along Honingham Road;

  • Speed reduction in the centre of the village;

  • Speed reduction and extension along Bell Road beyond Mount Pleasant;

  • Speed reduction and extension along Wymondham Road; and

  • Modification to the junction of Dark Lane and the B1108 Watton Road.

We have opposed the proposal of restricted ‘access only’ through Carleton Forehoe to Wymondham. We have proposed an alternative strategy of a speed reduction and extension from Wymondham to Carleton Forehoe, which appears to have been well-received.

The Parish Council has a Traffic Working Group consisting of councillors and local residents. On 3rd October 2022, they met with the Norfolk County Council Regional Highways Manager in order to discuss the speeding and traffic issues. His findings, together with ongoing dialogue between the Parish Council and Norfolk County Council, will inform their decision regarding speed limits next year.
